Ball size — read before ordering

It takes 5cm balls, and three are included in the box. Standard tennis balls are roughly 6.5cm and will jam the chute. Best suited to dogs under about 30kg.

Getting your dog started

Most dogs need about a week of short sessions before they load the ball themselves. Let them inspect the machine switched off, teach "drop" away from it, then move a treat over the chute so the drop lands inside.

How it works

  • Set the distance

    Charge it, press the button underneath and cycle through three settings — roughly 3, 6 and 9 metres. The short one works indoors.

  • Drop the ball in

    A sensor detects the ball entering the chute and fires it automatically. Load it yourself, or teach your dog to do it.

  • It waits for your dog

    A motion sensor covers about two metres in front of the barrel and holds the launch while your dog is standing there.

Built to be used safely

The motion sensor handles the obvious risk, but treat it like any moving equipment. Set it on stable, level ground, never aim it at a face, keep small children away from the front, and supervise every session. Not for dogs large enough to fit the whole ball in their mouth.

Common questions

Will my own tennis balls fit?

Almost certainly not. Zoomie is built around a 5cm ball and a standard tennis ball will jam the chute. Three correctly sized balls are included, and replacements are inexpensive.

Will my dog learn to use it?

Most dogs self-load within about a week of short daily sessions. Some never bother and are happy for you to load it while they run — which still solves the problem.

How loud is it?

There is an audible motor spin-up before each launch. Confident dogs ignore it by the second session. Sound-sensitive dogs need a slower introduction — run it powered on but not launching, at a distance, for a few days first.

Indoors or outdoors?

Both. Outdoors on grass is ideal; indoors use the shortest setting and clear the path. It is not weatherproof, and wet or muddy balls slip in the launch wheels and weaken the throw.
